  • Realme might launch laptops to the Indian market soon.
  • It will also launch Realme Buds 3 in August with "unique" features.
  • Realme's Sheth also hinted at a high-end smartwatch in the works.

Realme could be planning to launch its laptops in India. The Oppo offshoot is rapidly expanding into various product categories and personal computer could soon be one of them. In the latest episode of AskMadhav, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth hinted that the company is "considering the option" to launch laptops in India. Realme does not have a laptop portfolio in any of its markets; in fact, its parent company Oppo also does not deal in laptops and personal computers at the moment. Meanwhile, Realme's rival Xiaomi and Honor recently launched their laptops in India much later after their global releases.

Sheth also confirmed that the third-generation Realme Buds are coming to India in August. The earphones will be called Realme Buds 3 and will belong to the company's wired hearable portfolio. He said the Realme Buds 3 will be "unique" in its series, which hints at the arrival of features such as Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) on the earphones. "We're focussing on active noise cancellation, which will be the industry's leading ANC technology," he said. But if Realme chooses to integrate ANC on the Realme Buds 3, its price will go up significantly. This means it will not sell for around Rs 599 in India, unlike the Realme Buds 2 that was launched last year.

Realme is also working on a high-end smartwatch for various markets, including India. The Realme Watch currently sold in India and other markets is an entry-level product priced at Rs 3,999. Despite the price, it has a trendy look and features the most popular features such as a pedometer, heart rate sensor, and tools such as alarm clock. It does not let users make calls or reply to messages, as effectively as the Wear OS smartwatches do. Oppo launched its first smartwatch, the Oppo Watch, in India with a Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC, Wear OS software, eSIM support, and ECG sensor among others. Oppo Watch costs Rs 14,990 for the base model, which means the high-end Realme Watch would also cost at least more than Rs 10,000.

Meanwhile, Realme is geared up to make its debut at the IFA 2020 in Berlin where it is poised to make a flurry of announcements. The company is expected to launch the Realme X3 Pro and other AIoT products that are pending from the list it outed back in March. Sheth, in his video, emphasised that fans should tune into to Realme's announcements that will be made in September in Berlin.

Realme Buds 3 Set to Debut in India in August

Realme Buds 3 are set to launch as early as this month, revealed the company's India CEO Madhav Sheth in the latest episode of his video session AskMadhav on YouTube. The new wired earbuds by the company will be the successor to the Realme Buds that were launched last year. The executive also hinted at the company's plans towards bringing Realme laptops - a move similar to Huawei sub-brand Honor and Xiaomi. Realme is also in plans to expand its footprint in the wearables market and bring a high-end smartwatch and active noise cancellation (ANC) supported earbuds, Sheth said.

In the little over 12-minute video session, Sheth provided some details around Realme's roadmap for the Indian market. The executive mentioned that the Realme Buds 3 would debut “in a different style” and will be “unique” in its series. However, it is unclear whether the new wired earbuds would be available at an affordable price as its predecessor that were launched in August last year at a price tag of Rs. 599.

Apart from the Realme Buds 3, Sheth stated in the video that Realme is “considering the option” to launch its laptops in India. Realme competitors Honor and Xiaomi have already forayed into the laptops market, with the former hosting the launch of its first laptop model called MagicBook 15 just earlier this week. Sheth also spoke about new 5G phones by the company — without providing any concrete details, though.
